The Cyversity DC Leadership Team is pleased to bring you a community talk event centered on breaking into the cybersecurity field!

 

We are pleased to invite you to our “Breaking Into Cybersecurity Community Talk!” Our community leaders will share with you what it takes women and minorities to break into the cybersecurity field, will address career questions related to required skills and certifications necessary to lead a thriving cyber profession, we will go over important leadership and communication skills required to help you successfully progress in your cyber careers, and lastly we will demystify typical requirements for security clearances in our profession and provide you with an overview of the different types of security clearances and their impact on your job searches.

Scholarship Draw: Cybrary (https://www.cybrary.it/) has generously donated ten, one-year licenses to their cybersecurity skill development and training platform to our DC chapter. These scholarships will be up for grabs in a drawing at our event. Cybrary is aligned with our mission to support women and underrepresented minorities in the DMV area (DC, Maryland, and Virginia). Be sure to attend for the chance to win (Only those who attend in person are eligible to win).

Location: 11955 Freedom Drive, Reston, Virginia – The event itself is in The Microsoft Garage at this facility, which is on the second floor of the building. The best way to access the space is to enter the Freedom Drive building from the main entrance and head up the lobby stairs. If there is a need for assistance, please let the organizer know ([email protected]).

Parking: There is free parking in Reston Town Center in the purple or yellow parking garages after 5pm. Before 5pm, these garages are available for validation at the MS reception desk, though parking is free for the first hour. Thus, with the timing of this event, there should be no need for validation unless you plan to arrive before 4pm.
