Should your path to or within cybersecurity require education or training, there are an abundance of organizations that makes funding available to such pursuits. Below is a selection of scholarship opportunities.

Cash Scholarships
Special thanks to Huntington Bank for their generous donation of $10,000 toward the Cyversity scholarship fund to help build and advance talent in the Information Security / Cybersecurity space within our local community.
The Cyversity – Columbus Chapter Scholarship Award Criteria is detailed below for applicants seeking an award from our Chapter. If the cost of a certification or course is holding you back from a fulfilling career in Cybersecurity, here’s your chance to remove that barrier.
Scholarship Awards

Scholarship Reward Use Eligibility

- Online/In-Person Training (including Bootcamps)
- Leadership Courses
- Certification Testing
- Tuition Assistance
- Annual Cyversity Membership ($20 – Students, $100 – Professionals)
Logistics:
- Scholarship to be used by March 31, 2023.
- Funds will be released to the institution providing the training/certification or college/university. Check will be written to the Institution on behalf of the recipient.
- Reward Applicant will provide Cyversity supplied completion certificate:
- Course Completion Certificate
- Exam Completion Certificate
Note: Payment will only be provided for one exam voucher
Scholarship Applicant Requirements
- Geographic Region Eligibility: Midwest – Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
- Women and/or Minority and/or Veteran/Active Military Duty
- Must meet one of the following Criteria:
- Pursuing a degree in Information Security/Cybersecurity
- Pursuing a career in Information Security/Cybersecurity
- Currently working within Information Security/Cybersecurity
- Cyversity Membership is not required to apply for a scholarship, however if selected as a Scholarship recipient, Cyversity Membership is required to be activated within 60 days of award.
Application Process
- Applications are to be submitted HERE
- Applications will be accepted between February 15, 2022 – March 8, 2022.
- Applicant names will be masked during the selection review process.
- Applications will be reviewed by the Columbus Chapter Scholarship Selection Committee.
- Top Applicants will be requested to participate in a 15–30-minute virtual interview with the Columbus Scholarship Selection Committee between March 15, 2022 – April 9, 2022.
- Scholarships will be awarded by April 19, 2022.
The Marci McCarthy Cybersecurity Certification Scholarship Program provides $5,000 over a two-year period to help talented women and minority students advance in cybersecurity and obtain the Security+ Certification via CompTIA. This scholarship is awarded at Cyversity’s Annual Conference to the highest achieving Female, Veteran, African American, Hispanic American, Native American, Asian Pacific, Asian Indian, or sub-Saharan African who are active Cyversity members and have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership skills, and a commitment to Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) careers to include cybersecurity, digital forensics, and information assurance.
Further enhancing the congressional citation from Rep. Henry C. “Hank” Johnson, Jr. (D-GA 4th Congressional District), wherein he named March 13, 2012 as “Marci McCarthy Day,” this scholarship was created to honor Marci McCarthy’s overall work in fostering greater professionalism in the IT security industry in an effort to advance cyberspace protection in the private and public sectors.
The Lynx Technology Partners Scholarship Program recognizes the highest achieving Female, Veterans, African American, Hispanic American, Native American, Asian Pacific, Asian Indian or sub-Saharan African, who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership skills, and a commitment to Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) careers to include, Cybersecurity Digital Forensics and Information Assurance. Each Lynx Technology Partners Scholarship Program winner receives up to $5,000 award to be used toward the cost of attendance at a university.

Waits, Sr. Education Fund recognizes the highest achieving Female, Veterans, African American, Hispanic American, Native American, Asian Pacific, Asian Indian or sub-Saharan African, who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership skills, and a commitment to Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) careers to include, Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, Intelligence, Homeland Security, and Information Assurance.
Each Nelson H. Waits, Sr. Education Fund winner may be eligible to receive up to a $2,500 award to be used toward the cost of attendance at a local university.

THE PROGRAM
Yeshiva University (YU) offers a master’s degree in Cybersecurity at its midtown Manhattan campus. The program focuses on both the requisite tactical and technical skills necessary to effectively protect an organization from inside and outside threats, as well as the business acumen to understand the overall role of cybersecurity within an organization’s governance.
Cyversity MEMBERS – students and professionals – are encouraged to apply for the: $2500 Yeshiva University Graduate Dean’s Scholarship in Cybersecurity.
THE BENEFITS
The YU graduate program is convenient, flexible & fast; with part-time and full-time options, as well as evening classes; and there’s NO GRE REQUIREMENT. Students in the YU masters program will focus on: threat hunting, protection against network breaches, cloud security and managing ethical cyber teams; you’ll participate in:
- Seminars on AI, blockchain and cryptography
- Hands-on experience on a state-of-the art cyber range
- Real world virtual cybersecurity lab simulations
- Develop your own ideas and products in the cyber innovation lab
STUDENT PROFILE
The Yeshiva University (YU) master’s degree is ideal for people with backgrounds in information technology, information security, computer science, engineering, science and business, as well as professionals with experience in areas including IT support, and networks.

Training Scholarships
This Training Scholarship was available to active Cyversity members who were affiliated with the NYC Chapter ONLY.
This scholarship program, made possible by Cyversity & Morgan Franklin will allow 3 participants to attend a virtual CRISC Boot Camp and sit for the CRISC exam

Cyversity and SANS have joined forces to offer SCHOLARSHIPS for training programs. The Cyversity-SANS DIVERSITY CYBER ACADEMIES (DCAs) are offered around the country. Our DCA scholarships increase the career opportunities for minorities and women in the cybersecurity field. Each DCA scholarship is a 100% funded, four-to-six-month accelerated, immersive cybersecurity training program providing eligible candidates with advanced technical training, industry-recognized GIAC certifications and hands-on cyber defense and incident handling skills sought by employers.

Cyversity is teaming up with TikTok to award scholarships for cybersecurity training to its members. The scholarship will cover the cost of computer-based and simulation training for those looking to grow and advance cybersecurity knowledge and skills. The scholarship will also include the cost of the certification exam fee.
All recipients will receive Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) training. After the GRC training, recipients will choose one of three additional training areas. In-depth training options include Cybersecurity Network Defense (Blue Teaming), Red Teaming, and Cloud Security.

This scholarship program was made possible by ISC2 and enabled 15 participants the opportunity to attend a virtual Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) online course and sit for the CC exam.
Cyversity, in partnership with ISC2, awarded 15 scholarships to Cyversity members to pursue an entry level cybersecurity certification. The scholarship includes covering the cost of the online 14 hour self-paced training course and the certification exam.
The entry level cybersecurity certification will “help you create the solid foundation of knowledge employers are looking for, from an association they already trust.”

This scholarship program, made possible by Target, allows 10 participants to attend a virtual CISSP Boot Camp and sit for the CISSP exam.
Cyversity, in partnership with Target, will be awarding 10 scholarships to Cyversity members who would like to pursue their CISSP certification. The scholarship will cover the cost of a 1 week CISSP boot camp which will be held August 16th – 20th, the CISSP Exam (1 opportunity only) and a CISSP study guide.
The Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification is one of the most sought-after information security certifications. To learn more about the certification, please visit isc2.org.

Apprenticeship Scholarships
Applications Are Closed
This Apprenticeship is an in-person opportunity and applicants must reside in close proximity to Atlanta for consideration. Open to active Cyversity members who have membership affiliation within the Atlanta, GA chapter.

The enrollment period ended on November 11, 2022
- Five (5) candidates will be selected to participate
- This is a year-long, paid experience
- Candidates must live within the Atlanta, GA area as this is in-person apprenticeship
- Selected candidates will work alongside experienced information security practitioners and receive 1:1 training
- Additional online courses will be included to gain valuable industry certifications to prepare for success
- This apprenticeship programs will enable candidates to gain skills and experience in digital forensics, security operations, penetration testing, enterprise security engineering, and project management.
- Applicants must be a Cyversity member and affiliated with the Atlanta, GA chapter (reside in close/driving proximity)
- Must be 18-years or older (providing documented proof may be required)
- A Resume or CV and letter of reference/recommendation
